                                                  BELIEFS

The Bible.

The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is inerrant in its message of the Gospel of grace to humankind.

The Godhead.

There is one true God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity and the characteristics of personality.

Salvation.

All people everywhere are sinners by nature and by choice and thus face the judgment of God.  Jesus’ voluntary and substitutionary death on the Cross and subsequent resurrection from the dead provides complete redemption from sin and justification with God for every sinner who by faith granted by the Holy Spirit receives Jesus’ free gift of salvation.

The Church.

The church is the body of, the building of, and the bride of Jesus Christ that has been purchased with nothing less than his own blood and if the church is this important to Jesus, it should be as important to his followers.

Watermark Church is decidedly and unapologetically a protestant church.

We adhere to the biblically-based Five Solas that were born out of the Protestant Reformation:

sola Scriptura (by Scripture alone):

The Scriptures alone give us everything we need to know about theology.  No human person, church, religious organization,

or denomination can dictate or control our Christian worship and practice. Therefore, no modern day “dreams”, “visions”,

or “revelations” are necessary for growth, understanding Scripture or the Christian faith and walk.

Sola Deo Gloria (for God’s glory alone):

God alone is the planner, initiator, and securer of our salvation.  Salvation is provided solely through the person and work of Jesus Christ without human contribution whatsoever. Therefore, God alone, and no human or human organization receives any glory for personal salvation.

Sola Christo (through Christ alone):

Christ alone provides salvation through his person, work, and merit.  No human merit at all contributes to

one's receiving of salvation.

Sola Fide (through Faith alone):

Faith alone is required to receive God’s free gift of salvation .  Yet, even this faith is not manufactured within the human himself/herself but is also, as is the whole of salvation, a gift received from God.

 Sola Gratia (through Grace alone)

Grace alone provides the sinner with God's free  gift of salvation.  Grace is based wholly and entirely on the generous and loving nature of God toward those he calls his own.
